ACTION ALERT: Senate to Vote on Torture Amendment - Call Now!

Senator McCain and Senator Feinstein have introduced legislation that could permanently end CIA torture. Please call your Senators now and ask them to vote for the McCain-Feinstein torture amendment.

The McCain-Feinstein amendment would require the CIA to follow the Army Field Manual when interrogating prisoners and it would allow the International Committee of the Red Cross access to all detainees. Both of these requirements are already current practice as enacted by President Obama’s 2009 Executive Order, but without legislation that could change at any time. The McCain-Feinstein amendment would permanently prevent the CIA from restarting its torture program.

The Senate will vote on the amendment within a few days. We expect a close vote, so please call your Senators now. Hearing from you could be the thing that persuades them to vote for the McCain-Feinstein amendment and end CIA torture.

You can reach your Senators by dialing the Capitol Switchboard at 202-224-3121. Please say something like "Please vote for the McCain-Feinstein torture amendment to the National Defense Authorization Act. I believe that torture is always wrong and I hope that my Senator agrees with me."

Please call - the time to end torture is now.
