CANADA: KAIROS to Launch Winds of Change at the End of October

Were you educated in Canada? If yes, did you learn about residential schools? How about the broader history of colonization? The contributions made by First Nations, Inuit and Métis to Canada’s past and present? If you answered no to most of these questions, you are sadly not alone.

Let’s change this situation.

KAIROS will launch its Winds of Change campaign during the last week of October and mobilize people like you across the country to advocate in support of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission’s Calls to Action, starting with #62. This Call urges provincial governments to ensure that students learn about Indian Residential Schools, treaties, and the contributions made by First Nations, Inuit and Métis to Canada. Members of the KAIROS network will gather signatures on petitions calling on provincial governments to implement curriculum that covers these areas. The petitions will be delivered to the ministers of education and provincial representatives in the spring.
