FROM CANADA: A Chance to End Child Poverty for Good

The new Canada Child Benefit is poised to be a game-changer for low-income families.

Anita Khanna, National Coordinator of Campaign 2000, writes in the upcoming Spring issue of the Catalyst that the CCB is a strong and effective social policy tool, that, if funded for the long-term, could very well meet with the government's goal of lifting 315,000 children out of poverty.

But it must be delivered to all low-income families in Canada, including those on social assistance. Sadly, the recently-released federal budget included no commitments to ensure that this will be the case.
